Finally in Thailand

Our adventure started early. Our plane from Tokyo to Thailand broke, so we had to spend the night in Tokyo and fly out in the morning. The up side of this is that we got to meet a lot of really nice people. Funny how people start talking to each other when they're all in a fix together. Also, getting some sleep that night helped so we didn't have any jet lag once we got here.
Fred has had our days packed since we arrived. Bangkok is an extremely large, crowded and noisy place. I guess 10 million people helps. We visited the home of Jim Thompson, an American who settled here after WWII. He was a key player in developiung the silk business here in Thailand. His home is on one of the many canals that run through the city, and has many artifacts and wonderful pieces of art.
After that we traveled on one of the boat taxis to visit some temples. One of them is a built up cheidi, the golden mountain, where people come to pray to Buddha. It is the highest point in Bangkok.

We then traveled on Bangkok's sky rail and subway to a night market where we ate some great Thai food and browsed the shops.
